Katsura is half of the turntable unit Busratch that started performing in 1998 using 8 turntables, making experimental music with records, stones, metals, cymbals,
mousepads etc.
They have released 3 CDs on Kyoto's PARAdisc label, and have performed with avant turntable originators Christian Marclay + Otomo Yoshihide
BusRatch was launched in 1998 around Parallax record shop in Kyoto,Japan as an experimental DJ group performing improvised music on 8 turntables simultaneously. Today, BusRatch is the duo project of Katsura Mori and Takahiro Yamamoto. In addition to using turntable only, they "play back" on the turntable a variety of items including prepared records, cymbals, metal objects, and mouse pads; and construct sound improvisationally by amplifying sounds made with the cartridge and arm.The Improvised music of BusRatch is constructed by misused/controlled turntables.
